I have been reading blogs since K told me what they were back in 2005, I think. (Yes, I tend to be behind the time when it comes to things. I know. Maybe it was 2004....)
In that time, I have saved quite a few links to blogs I'd like to get to. Eventually.
I started with 211 links (this doesn't count the nine I still read regularly) in my folder.
I just finished going through them and deleting the ones that just don't exist anymore (easy peasy, makes me happy).
I also got rid of the ones I'll probably never actually get to. I'm sure that the blogs I'm wholesale putting out of mind (deleting from my bookmark folder) are perfectly all right. I'm sure some are great. But, well, they just might not be for me. At least not right now, so I don't feel I need to hold onto them.
I started a little post-it to keep track of the titles I removed. I don't know why. Because, apparently I just can't let go. At least that's where I was a couple of days ago when I started this. But I just trashed that note. Goodbye, twenty-seven blogs I'll never get to. Goodbye, mental clutter and pretend obligation.
My next project: sorting the remaining blogs into subfolders. Food blogs. Parenting blogs. Fashion blogs. (I like seeing what other people wear to work - probably clothes that fit nicely and aren't covered in cat hair. And seeing those refasioning posts - where people make hideous thrift-shop finds into cute outfits.)
I know this is nerdy and tedious, but it's the kind of thing I like to do. It's somewhat mindless work, but it makes me feel more sorted out and I can listen to something as I do it. (Which means I can kind of work my way through some of the thousands of podcast episodes I have saved and haven't listened to yet. I'm realizing I'm kind of a digital hoarder.)
In other non-news:
- I just watched an 11-minute video about scritching and preening. Seriously.
- I've set a summer goal: watch Grey's Anatomy. Because, y'know, a person has to have goals, right? I stopped catching up on it a few years ago, I think. I don't even know how many seasons there are. I think the last season I saw was the one with Feeny. I know big things have gone down since then, but I'll still catch up at some point.
